We're excited to welcome Michael Lane to our ministry team! Michael joined our staff on February 13, 2018. Take a minute to get to know him:
"My name is Michael Lane, and I am excited about this new
season at Lyons FUMC! My journey into
ministry began at the age of 23 years old when a college classmate invited me
to church, and a few months later, I prayed to receive Christ as my
Savior. As I grew in my relationship to
Jesus, I believed that God was calling me to serve in ministry, and, fast
forward to 2008, my call finally came to fruition.
I began my transition into vocational ministry by working as a part-time Youth Ministry Director and taking seminary courses. Within 18 months, I left secular employment and served as a full-time youth and children’s pastor. In 2011, I was ordained by the pastors and elders of Grace Community Church in Rincon, GA. After five years of service, my family and I relocated to Cheyenne, WY where I assumed a management position for a Telecom company. We remained in Cheyenne for 3 ½ years until the call came for us to move to Vidalia, GA to continue what I believe I was put on this earth to do…invest in the up and coming generation.
Joining me in this life adventure is my wife of almost 25 years, Ame. We met in Savannah, GA in 1990 while I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, and she was beginning her career as an educator. Talk about two very different people! I grew up in a small farm town in Northern Colorado while she grew up in Florida and then attended high school and college in Virginia. She is an educator of 22 years and is currently employed by Toombs County School System. We are blessed with two beautiful daughters, Courtney and Parker. Courtney is a first grade teacher in Effingham County and Parker is attending Middle Georgia State University with the aspiration of becoming a nurse.
The life of a believer is always an adventure, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to serve you and to partner with you in ministry!"
